Mama’s House Buffet offers traditional southern "comfort food" served in a casual, family-oriented atmosphere. The buffet will include fried chicken, fried fish, baked chicken or fish with rice, hamburgers and french fries, brown beans, cornbread, spaghetti, vegetables, salad bar, drinks and a choice of desserts.
The restaurant is located in Kingsport, TN, just a few minutes away from the Exchange Place.

Exchange Place
A living history farm

After lunch (around 1:00 p.m.) we will be visiting Exchange Place. The site was once a community that served as a self-supporting plantation, a relay station along the Old Stage Road and the Post Office for Eden’s Ridge, Tennessee. Heritage craftspeople will be available to demonstrate the "necessities of the 1850’s" such as basketmaking, ropemaking, chairmaking, caning, whittling, blacksmithing, weaving, spinning, pottery, soap making, and apple cider squeezing.
The 62-acre working farm boasts milking shorthorn cattle or Durhams as they were called in those days, Dominique and white and brown Leghorn chickens, a Belgian draft horse, a Tennessee walking buggy horse, Poland China pigs, and some of only 1,000 or so Tunis sheep in the country. Exchange Place works with the Minor Breeds Conservancy so that the older animal breeds do not become extinct.
Costumed docents will be available to show you the six log and four timberframe buildings, and a professional story teller will be there to entertain you. You may choose to spend as much or as little time there as fits your schedule.

If you would like to participate, please register for Family Day with your Synod registration form, or by using the form below. The cost for both the lunch and the afternoon at Exchange Place is $15 for those aged 13-60. The cost for those over 60 and younger than 13 is $12. No charge for children age 3 and under.
This event at Exchange Place is being arranged just for you and will not be advertised to the public.
We will arrive at Exchange Place at around 1:00 PM. You may spend the entire afternoon or just an hour or so depending on your available time.
